UKMSSB Professor & Associate Professor Educational Qualification Criteria

Academic Background & Experience requirements:

• Standard Medical Qualifications: Must possess essential qualifications (MD / MS / DNB / MDS) and required post-qualification academic experience in the respective specialty as outlined in the latest NMC-TEQ Regulations (Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 30 June 2025).
• Non-Clinical Non-Medical Specializations: For non-clinical departments (Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physiology, and Pharmacology), M.Sc. (Medical) with a PhD in the respective medical discipline is eligible according to NMC parameters. Non-medical faculty will only be considered if qualified medical teachers are completely unavailable.
• Medical Council Registration: Candidates must hold a valid, renewed registration certificate from any State Medical Council or National Medical Commission (NMC) as of the online application closing deadline. This registration is not compulsory for non-medico applicants holding M.Sc./PhD credentials.

Preference Rules:

• Other things being equal, preference is granted if the candidate served a minimum of 2 years in the Territorial Army OR holds an NCC ‘B’ Certificate.

UKMSSB Professor & Associate Professor Salary Structure & Additional Benefits

• Professor Base: Pay Matrix Level-14 (₹1,44,200 – 2,18,200/- per month).
• Associate Professor Base: Pay Matrix Level-13A (₹1,31,100 – 3,16,600/- per month).
• Hilly Area Special Allowance: According to government mandates, faculty members posted at remote/hilly terrains (specifically Srinagar Garhwal and Almora government medical colleges) are entitled to an additional 50% allowance under the Medical Teachers Deficiency Compensatory Scheme.
• Job Nature: Gazetted regular positions carrying contributory pension plan benefits.

UKMSSB Professor & Associate Professor Selection Process Details

Selection relies strictly on a 100-Mark Evaluation System detailed below:

• Tie-Breaking Metric: If total evaluation scores are tied, preference is granted to candidates holding preferential qualifications. If a tie continues, the elder candidate takes precedence. If age is also identical, alphabetical order of English names determines final seniority.
• OBC Validation: OBC certificates for Uttarakhand residents must be issued on the prescribed format, remaining valid for 3 years from the date of release. Certificates must not be older than 3 years as of the closing date (i.e., issued on or after 30 July 2023).
• EWS Validation: EWS certificates must be valid for the financial year 2026-27, computed on the base gross income of the financial year 2025-26. If no eligible candidates are available, EWS posts will be converted to the Unreserved pool.
