Candidates must have pursued their qualifications via full-time regular courses from AICTE-approved or UGC-recognized universities/institutions.

  • UR / OBCNC / EWS Applicants: Minimum 65% marks on an aggregate basis.
  • SC / ST / PwBD Applicants: Minimum 55% marks on an aggregate basis.
  • Note: Fractional percentages will not be rounded off (e.g., 64.99% will be treated as less than 65%).
  • Junior Executive (Chemical): 3-year full-time Regular Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
  • Junior Executive (Fire & Safety): Any Science Graduate + Diploma in Fire & Safety, along with a Valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License.
  • Senior Officer (Sales): 4-year full-time regular engineering course in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, or Civil Engineering AND a 2-year full-time regular MBA / PGDM. (Minimum 2 years post-MBA experience required).
  • Assistant Manager / Manager (Projects): 4-year full-time regular engineering course in Civil Engineering. (Minimum 6 years experience for Assistant Manager; 9 years for Manager).
  • Technical Services (Speciality Chemicals) Profiles: 4-year full-time regular engineering course in Chemical Engineering. Desirable: 2-year full-time regular MBA course. (Minimum 15 years’ experience for Chief Manager; 18 years for DGM).
  • Economist Profiles: 2-year full-time regular Post Graduate degree in Economics, Applied Economics, or Energy Planning. Specialization in Economics research or Econometrics is required. (Minimum 12 years experience for Senior Manager; 15 years for Chief Manager; 18 years for DGM).
  • Gas Sourcing & Marketing Profiles: 4-year full-time regular engineering course in any discipline AND a 2-year full-time regular MBA course. (Minimum 18 years experience for DGM; 21 years for GM).
  • Sales & Marketing (Petrochemicals) Profiles: 4-year full-time regular engineering course in Chemical Engineering. Desirable: 2-year full-time regular MBA course. (Minimum 18 years experience for DGM; 21 years for GM; 24 years for CGM).

Candidates are inducted at the minimum of their corresponding pay scale. The approximate Cost to Company (CTC) calculated at the minimum base level includes basic pay, allowances, retirement benefits, and performance-related pay:

  • Pay Scale ₹30000 – ₹120000: Approx. CTC ₹10.99 Lakh
  • Pay Scale ₹60000 – ₹180000: Approx. CTC ₹21.98 Lakh
  • Pay Scale ₹70000 – ₹200000: Approx. CTC ₹26.49 Lakh
  • Pay Scale ₹80000 – ₹220000: Approx. CTC ₹30.27 Lakh
  • Pay Scale ₹90000 – ₹240000: Approx. CTC ₹35.13 Lakh
  • Pay Scale ₹100000 – ₹260000: Approx. CTC ₹40.24 Lakh
  • Pay Scale ₹120000 – ₹280000: Approx. CTC ₹49.73 Lakh
  • Probation Period: Selected officers will remain on probation for one year from the date of joining.
  • Retention Deductions: Monthly deductions apply for the first 12 months of probation: ₹5000/- per month for pay scales up to ₹40000-140000, and ₹8000/- per month for scales from ₹50000-160000 up to ₹90000-240000. This retention amount is released interest-free after 3 years.
  • Service Bond: Candidates inducted into pay scales from ₹30000-120000 up to ₹90000-240000 must execute a service bond to serve for at least three years. The bond amount is ₹3,00,000/- for General applicants and ₹50,000/- for EWS/OBCNC/SC/ST/PwBD applicants.
  • Selection Phases: The multi-stage selection process may utilize tools such as a Computer-Based Test (CBT), Group Task, Psychometric Assessment, Skill Test, and Personal/Technical Interview based on the position requirements.
  • Minimum Qualifying Criteria: Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks in each applicable stage (CBT, Group Task, and Personal Interview) to remain eligible.
  • Document Verification & NOC: Verification of original documents is scheduled prior to personal interviews. Regular employees of Government Departments or PSUs must mandatorily produce a hard copy of a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from their employer at the time of the interview.
  • Medical Evaluation: Selection is subject to clearing a Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME) at HPCL-nominated empanelled hospitals.
  • Physical Fitness Efficiency Test (PFET): Specific posts require passing a fitness test comprising a Working at Height Test, Endurance Test, and Agility Test after the medical exam.
  • Test Form: The Computer-Based Test (CBT) consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions divided into two core segments:
    1. General Aptitude: Covers English Language, Quantitative Aptitude Test, and Intellectual Potential Test (incorporating Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation).
    2. Technical / Professional Knowledge: Evaluates the technical competency related to the qualifying degree or specific educational background required for the post.
  • Syllabus Availability: An indicative syllabus will be hosted on the Careers Page of the corporate website before the exam.
  • Re-evaluation: There is no provision or mechanism for the re-evaluation of test answers or appeals against the question papers.
