TNPSC Combined Technical Services Recruitment 2026: The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has released an official recruitment advertisement (Advertisement No. 737, Notification No. 06/2026) for direct recruitment to 839 vacancies under the Combined Technical Services Examination (Diploma / ITI Level).   • One-Time Registration (OTR) Fee: Rs. 150/- (Valid for 5 years).
  • Examination Fee: Rs. 100/- per candidate. An additional Rs. 100/- is charged for every additional subject paper opted.
  • Fee Exemptions: Fully exempted for Scheduled Castes (SC/SCA), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Destitute Widows. Ex-Servicemen get 2 free chances, and Backward Classes/MBC/DC get 3 free chances.
  • Payment Mode: Online mode only through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI. Offline payments (Demand Draft, Postal Order, etc.) are strictly rejected.

The Age will be calculated as of 1 July 2026

  • Minimum Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 18 years old for all posts. Exceptions apply to Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade-II (Min 21 years) and Junior Training Officer posts (Min 21 years as on 01/08/2026).
  • Maximum Age Limit (For General Category / Others): Varies from 32 to 37 years depending on the specific post (refer to the official notification table). Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade-II has a maximum cap of 34 years.

  • Maximum Age Limit (For SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC, BCM): No Maximum Age Limit for most of the technical positions. (Note: “No maximum age limit” implies candidates must not have completed 60 years of age on 01/07/2026).

Qualifications must be obtained in the proper structural order: SSLC + HSC/Diploma/ITI or equivalent + UG Degree + PG Degree.

  • Assistant Agricultural Officer (AAO): Higher Secondary (+2) pass along with a 2-year Diploma in Agriculture from a Tamil Nadu government-recognized or affiliated institution. Higher degree holders without a basic 2-year Diploma are ineligible.
  • Assistant Horticultural Officer (AHO): Higher Secondary (+2) pass along with a 2-year Diploma in Horticulture. Higher degree holders without a basic 2-year Diploma are ineligible.
  • Overseer / Junior Draughting Officer / Special Overseer: Diploma in Civil Engineering. Degree in Civil Engineering will be considered a higher qualification, giving preference if other criteria are equal.
  • Road Inspector: I.T.I. Certificate in Civil Draughtsmanship from a government-recognized institute. Preference is given to Diploma in Civil Engineering holders.
  • Junior Training Officer (JTO – Various Trades): SSLC/equivalent pass along with an Engineering/Technology Degree OR a relevant Diploma OR a National Trade Certificate (NTC) / National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in the respective trade stream.
  • Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade-II: Minimum General Educational Qualification + 3-year Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering, and must hold a valid driving license for gear motorcycles and light motor vehicles.
  • Knowledge of Tamil: Candidates must possess adequate knowledge of the Tamil language (passed SSLC/HSC/Degree with Tamil as a language, or studied in Tamil medium). Otherwise, they must pass the Second Class Language Test in Tamil within 2 years of appointment.
  • Appointed candidates will receive pay and allowances fixed under standard Tamil Nadu State Government matrices mapped post-wise.
  • Level structures range from Level 5 to Level 15 in the state pay matrix, depending upon the cadre seniority of the designation.
  • Certain public sector undertakings (such as Co-operatives, Minerals / Fisheries) follow specialized Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and terminal benefit bye-laws.
  • Single Stage Written Examination: Consists of objective-type papers managed via OMR or Computer-Based Test (CBT) environments.
  • Language Parameters: Part A of Paper-I is mandatory. Papers are bilingual (English & Tamil) for specific subject segments, or English-only based on the technical subject chosen.
  • Onscreen Certificate Verification: Qualified candidates from the written exam will undergo onscreen data checking before entering the final physical document verification and counseling rounds.
  • Counseling Allotment: Post assignments and location allocations are resolved strictly via rank orders during organized counseling phases.
  • Tie-Breaking Rule: If total marks match, the candidate with a higher qualification is ranked above. If educational credentials match, seniority in age takes precedence. If age matches, the candidate who submitted their application earlier is prioritized.

Candidates must mandatorily appear in both Paper-I and Paper-II to be evaluated for final selection rankings.

  • Part A (Tamil Eligibility Test): 100 Questions (150 Marks). Minimum 40% qualifying marks (60 Marks) are required in Part A, failing which Part B, Part C, and Paper-II will not be evaluated.
  • Part B (General Studies – SSLC Standard): 75 Questions.
  • Part C (Aptitude & Mental Ability – SSLC Standard): 25 Questions.
  • (Part B & Part C together carry a maximum of 150 Marks).
  • Subject Paper: Mapped specifically to the candidate’s core qualification field (Diploma / ITI Standard).
  • Maximum Marks: 200 Marks.
  • SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC, BCM Categories: 135 Marks.
  • Others (General Category): 180 Marks out of a total 450 evaluation ceiling.
  • Visit the official TNPSC portals at www.tnpsc.gov.in or www.tnpscexams.in.
  • Complete your One-Time Registration (OTR) by paying the Rs. 150/- registration fee and uploading your scanned photograph and signature according to the official dimension rules.
  • Linking your Aadhaar Number with your OTR profile is mandatory for all active applications.
  • Click “APPLY” against the Combined Technical Services Examination (Notification No. 06/2026) and log in using your active OTR credentials.
  • Select your preferred Subject Paper options strictly matching your technical graduation qualifications.
  • Choose two preferred district examination centers from the list of 38 center codes available in the dropdown interface (PwBD candidates choose one).
  • Verify your entered inputs through the Application Preview screen. Review all details carefully, as modifications are prohibited after submission.
  • Pay your examination fee online via Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or UPI, then click “SUBMIT” to generate your unique Application Number/Applicant ID copy.
