KSP Karnataka Police Constable Application 2026: The Karnataka State Police (KSP) Department has issued two official recruitment advertisements for direct recruitment to a total of 2,314 vacant posts of Special Reserve Police Constables (KSRP), Police Constables (KSISF), and Special Reserve Police Constables in the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB).

The recruitment drive is strategically split into two separate cadres: the Kalyana Karnataka Cadre (Local Cadre) comprising 859 vacancies and the Residual Parent Cadre (Non-Local Cadre) comprising 1,455 vacancies. The written examination for these positions will be professionally conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).   • Must have passed 2nd PUC (Pre-University Course / 12th Pass) or possess an equivalent qualification from a recognized board or university on or before the application deadline.
  • Recognized Equivalents include: Class 12 from CBSE or ISC boards, Class 12 from other state boards, Higher Secondary Course (HSC) from NIOS, 3-Year Diploma courses from the Department of Technical Education, and JOC or 2-Year ITI courses under specific conditions.
  • Note: Candidates appearing for their final exams or awaiting results are not eligible. Engineering degree holders (B.E./B.Tech) who do not possess the basic Diploma or ITI/PUC credentials are also not eligible.
  • Candidates who studied Kannada as a first or second language in SSLC or higher exams, or studied in the Kannada medium, are exempted from the language test.
  • Other candidates must pass a descriptive Compulsory Kannada Language Test carrying a maximum of 150 marks. Scoring a minimum of 50 marks is mandatory to pass. Marks obtained in this paper will not influence final merit list selection positions.
  • IDA Pay Scale Matrix: ₹37,500 – 900 – 39,300 – 1000 – 43,300 – 1125 – 47,800 – 1250 – 52,800 – 1375 – 58,300 – 1500 – 64,300 – 1650 – 74,200 – 1900 – 76,100.
  • Mandatory Foundation Training: Selected candidates must complete a 9-month basic foundation training course at police training institutions and pass the prescribed practical examinations. Failing the exams twice will result in immediate termination of service.
  • Probation Period: Direct recruits will remain on probation for Two Years and Six Months (inclusive of the 9-month basic training duration).
  • Surety Bonds: Selected candidates must execute a standard Surety Bond of ₹3,00,000/- to serve the corporation for a minimum period of 4 years (exclusive of extraordinary leaves). If specialized training is imparted, a 6-year service bond covering the actual training cost must be signed.

The systematic selection process features the following consecutive execution rounds:

  1. Computer-Based Test / Written Exam: Managed at selected regional district headquarters.
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Endurance Test (PET): Candidates are shortlisted for physical tests in a 1:5 ratio based on written exam merit.
  3. Document Verification & Medical Examination: Shortlisted applicants in a 1:2 ratio following physical tests undergo medical examination by the medical board.

Note: Achieving zero or negative marks in the written exam will result in immediate disqualification. All physical standard measurements and endurance events are digitally recorded via CC TV or videography to ensure transparency.

Candidates qualifying the physical standard measurements must pass all the following events in the exact sequence outlined below:

  • 1600 Meters Race: Must complete within 6 Minutes 30 Seconds (Single attempt allowed).
  • Long Jump OR High Jump: Long Jump minimum 3.80 Meters OR High Jump minimum 1.20 Meters (Maximum 3 attempts allowed).
  • Shot Put (7.26 kg): Must throw a minimum distance of 5.60 Meters (Maximum 3 attempts allowed).
  • 400 Meters Race: Must complete within 1 Minute 30 Seconds (Single attempt allowed).
  • Long Jump OR High Jump: Long Jump minimum 2.50 Meters OR High Jump minimum 0.90 Meters (Maximum 3 attempts allowed).
  • Shot Put (4 kg): Must throw a minimum distance of 3.75 Meters (Maximum 3 attempts allowed).

The competitive written examination will be held on 20 September 2026 using objective multiple-choice question (MCQ) sheets.

  • Total Questions: 100 MCQs.
  • Maximum Marks: 100 Marks.
  • Duration: 1 Hour 30 Minutes (90 Minutes).
  • Negative Marking: Penalty applies; 1/4th mark (0.25) will be deducted for every incorrect response.
  • OMR Shading Rule: OMR sheets feature a 5th option circle for unattempted questions. Candidates get an extra 5 minutes after the final bell to shade this 5th option for blank entries. If a question is left blank without shading any circle, 0.25 marks will be deducted as a penalty.
  • Core Syllabus Outlines: General Studies, Mental Ability, and Arithmetic reasoning attributes evaluated at the SSLC/10th grade standard.
  • Candidates can apply for only one specific battalion group/unit pool. Multiple submissions will result in immediate cancellation.

  • Enter your identity traits, academic PU marks, reservation categories, and select your preferred battalion group carefully. Data entries cannot be edited after final submission.
  • Upload your recent scanned passport-size color photograph (50 KB to 200 KB in JPEG format) and signature file (50 KB to 70 KB in JPEG format) using a black ink pen.
  • Pay the non-refundable fee (₹750/- for GM/OBC or ₹500/- for SC/ST/Cat-1/Ex-SM) online via the integrated banking gateway.
  • Submit the complete details online and download a printed copy of your registration summary page and payment challan receipt for your records.
