KEA KREIS Residential School Teacher Application 2026: The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has released two official recruitment notifications on behalf of the Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS) for the direct recruitment of 1,087 vacant Group-C Teacher posts across residential schools like Morarji Desai, Kittur Rani Channamma, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Smt. Indira Gandhi, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar schools.

The recruitment features vacancies split across two separate cadres: Residual Parent Cadre (RPC / ಉಳಿಕೆ ಮೂಲ ವೃಂದ) with 767 posts and Local Cadre (Kalyana Karnataka / ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ವೃಂದ) with 320 posts. Eligible candidates must qualify in the competitive OMR written examination to be conducted by the KEA.

  • General Merit (GM), 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B Categories: ₹750/- total (₹500 application fee + ₹250 processing fee).
  • SC, ST, Category-1, Ex-Servicemen, and Transgender Categories: ₹500/- total (₹250 application fee + ₹250 processing fee).
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Categories: ₹250/- total (Processing fee only).
  • Additional Post Fee: Candidates can apply for multiple posts using a single integrated form. For every additional post/subject selected beyond the first one, an extra ₹100/- must be paid as an application fee.
  • Payment Mode: Online mode only. Remitted fees are completely non-refundable.

The Age will be calculated as of 13 August 2026

  • Minimum Age Limit: 18 Years
  • Special Age Relaxation: A general one-time relaxation of 5 Years has been added to the maximum age caps across all categories by the state government.
  • General Merit (GM) Candidates: Maximum 45 Years.
  • Backward Classes (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B) Candidates: Maximum 48 Years.
  • SC, ST, and Category-1 Candidates: Maximum 50 Years.

  • For positions from serial numbers 1 to 6 (Kannada, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science), candidates must have qualified in either Paper-2 of the Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) or the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) managed by the CBSE. Candidates awaiting final results on the closing date are not eligible.
  • Kannada Language Teacher: Bachelor’s Degree in Arts (B.A) with Kannada as an optional subject OR a 4-year “Kannada Pandit” course from KSEEB. Must also hold a recognized B.Ed degree in the Kannada stream. (If optional Kannada was not taken at the graduation level, a Post Graduate degree in Kannada is required).
  • English Language Teacher: Bachelor’s Degree in Arts (B.A) with English as an optional subject OR a Post Graduate Diploma in English from the Regional Institute of English (South India). Must possess a recognized B.Ed degree primarily with English teaching methods. (If optional English was not taken at the graduation level, a postgraduate degree in English is mandatory).
  • Hindi Language Teacher: Graduate degree with Hindi as an optional/major subject along with a recognized B.Ed degree. Alternatively, a Post-Graduate degree in Hindi with a B.Ed degree featuring Hindi teaching methods is also accepted.
  • Mathematics Teacher: Bachelor’s Degree in Science (B.Sc) with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects, combined with Chemistry as an optional subject. Must hold a recognized B.Ed degree in the Science method stream.
  • Science Teacher: Bachelor’s Degree in Science (B.Sc) with Chemistry as a compulsory subject, combined with optional subjects like Botany and Zoology. Must hold a recognized B.Ed degree in the Science teaching method stream.
  • Social Science Teacher: Bachelor’s Degree in Arts (B.A), choosing any two subjects out of History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, and Geography as optional criteria. Must hold a recognized B.Ed degree in Arts method.
    • English Medium Notice: Because residential instruction is managed in the English medium, Social Science applicants must have completed their graduation degree in the English medium and must produce a valid medium certificate from their college during verification.
  • Computer Teacher: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) in Computer Science or Information Science OR a regular Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) OR a B.Sc in Computer Science or equivalent graduation.
  • Physical Education Teacher: Graduate degree from a recognized university combined with a Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) degree.
  • Graduate Drawing Teacher: Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) OR Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) from a recognized university.
  • Diploma Drawing Teacher: Diploma in Drawing / Applied Art / Commercial Art / Drawing & Painting from the Technical Examination Board OR an Art Master certification.
  • For all posts, candidates must have studied Kannada as a language in SSLC, PUC, Graduation, or Post Graduation. Alternatively, they must have completed a recognized Kannada certificate course (Kava, Jana, or Ratna) from KSEEB or Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
  • Candidates who do not meet this criterion must write and clear a Compulsory Kannada Language Test conducted by KEA. The test features an objective multiple-choice structure carrying 150 maximum marks. Candidates must score at least 50 marks to qualify. Marks from this eligibility test will not be added to the final merit ranking.
  • Pay Scale Matrices for General Teachers (SNo 1-7 in RPC / 1-7 in KK): 2024 Revised State Pay Matrix of ₹54,175 – 1,375 – 58,300 – 1,500 – 64,300 – 1,650 – 74,200 – 1,900 – 85,600 – 2,300 – 99,400.
  • Pay Scale Matrices for Drawing Teachers (SNo 8-9 in KK Local Cadre): 2024 Revised State Pay Matrix of ₹49,050 – 1,250 – 52,800 – 1,375 – 58,300 – 1,500 – 64,300 – 1,650 – 74,200 – 1,900 – 85,600 – 2,300 – 92,500.
  • Probation Period: Inducted direct recruitment candidates will serve on probation for a fixed period of Two Years.
  • Pension Policy: Placed under the National Pension System (NPS) layout framework. Specialized KGID policies or traditional PF benefits are not applicable.
  • Selection Base: The final merit selection parameters rely entirely on the absolute performance scores achieved in the Offline-OMR competitive written test. There are no separate personal interview stages.
  • Minimum Qualifying Written Cut-Off: Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 35% marks in the competitive written examination to remain eligible for the list selection.
  • Negative Valuation Penalty: The question papers use a penalty mechanism where every incorrect multiple-choice response will lead to a deduction of one-fourth (0.25) marks.
  • Unanswered Questions OMR Rule: To ensure testing transparency, OMR sheets feature a 5th option circle for unattempted questions. Five extra minutes are given after the final bell to shade this 5th option for blank entries. If an item is left completely blank without shading any circle, 0.25 marks will be deducted as a penalty.
  • Tie-Breaking Guidelines: In case total marks match, a candidate with higher educational qualifications ranks senior. If credentials are identical, seniority in age takes precedence. If a tie persists, the candidate who processed their online application form earlier is ranked higher.

The written competitive examination will be held in offline OMR-based formats across selected regional district centers in Karnataka. Both Paper-1 and Paper-2 use an objective structure containing 100 questions of 1 mark each.

  • Eligible candidates must access the official KEA web portal link at https://cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/.
  • Read the detailed instructions and document rules carefully before opening the registration dashboard.
  • Fill in all the personal attributes, academic qualifications, and reservation categories accurately. Entries cannot be modified once final submission is processed.
  • Upload your recent color passport photograph (50 KB to 200 KB in JPEG format) and signature file (50 KB to 70 KB in JPEG format) in the specified fields.
  • Ensure you hold all required caste and reservation certificates (Form-D for SC/ST, Form-E for Cat-1, or Form-F for 2A/2B/3A/3B) issued by the competent Tehsildar before processing final entries. Married women seeking OBC benefits must produce valid income certificates citing their husband’s name.
  • Pay your application and processing fees online. If applying for extra subjects/posts, make sure to add ₹100 per additional position.
  • Download and preserve a printed hard copy of your finalized system-generated application form and your online fee receipt for verification purposes downstream.
