Candidates who have completed their degree or are in their final year with a minimum of 60% marks can apply. The branch-wise essential educational criteria are detailed below:

  • GS(X)/Hydro, Pilot, Naval Air Officer, ATC: BE/B.Tech in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks. For Pilot, Observer, and ATC entries, the candidate must also have a 60% aggregate in Class X & XII and 60% marks in English.
  • Logistics: BE/B.Tech in any discipline with First Class OR MBA with First Class OR B.Sc/B.Com/B.Sc(IT) with First Class along with a PG Diploma in Finance/Logistics/Supply Chain/Material Management OR MCA/M.Sc(IT) with First Class.
  • NAIC: BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in Mechanical, Industrial, Computer Science, Aeronautical, Electronics & Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, Computer Application, Electrical, Information Technology, Aero Space, Metallurgy, Metallurgical, Control Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics, Micro Electronics, Chemical, Production, Industrial Production, Instrumentation, Material Science, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, or Instrumentation & Control.
  • Education: Candidates must have 60% marks in Class X and XII, and 60% marks in English. Qualification streams include:
    • M.Sc/M.A with minimum 60% marks in Maths/Operational Research (with Physics in B.Sc).
    • M.Sc/M.A with minimum 60% marks in Physics/Applied Physics/Meteorology/Oceanography/Atmospheric Sciences (with Physics & Maths in B.Sc).
    • M.A (History) with a minimum 55% marks.
    • BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in Mechanical/Production/Electrical/Electronics & Communication/Electronics & Instrumentation.
    • ME/M.Tech with minimum 60% marks in specialized domains (Electronics & Communication, VLSI, Power Systems, Thermal, Machine Design, Mechatronics, etc.).
  • Engineering Branch (GS) & Submarine Tech Engineering: BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in Marine, Aerospace, Metallurgy, Automobiles, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Production, Industrial Engineering & Management, Control, Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Mechanical with Automation, or Instrumentation & Control.
  • Electrical Branch (GS) & Submarine Tech Electrical: BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in Electrical, Electronics, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Telecommunication, Electronics & Communication, Applied Electronics & Communication (AEC), Instrumentation, Power Electronics, Power Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Electronics & Instrumentation, or Applied Electronics & Instrumentation.
  • Naval Constructor: BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in Mechanical/Mechanical with Automation, Marine, Civil, Metallurgy, Ship Building, Aeronautical, Ship Technology, Ship Design, Aerospace, Ocean Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
  • Initial Gross Salary (Sub Lieutenant): Starts from Rs. 1,20,000/- (approximate) per month.
  • Allowances: Additional allowances apply based on guidelines. Post successful completion of training, a Pilot/NAOO and Submarine allowance of Rs. 31,250/- per month is admissible.

The selection process consists of the following consecutive stages:

  • Shortlisting of Applications (Based on normalized marks obtained in the qualifying degree)
  • SSB Interview
  • CPSS (Applicable only for Pilot entry)
  • Medical Examination
  • Final Merit List
  • Tenure of Commission: Grant of Short Service Commission is initially for 12 years, extendable by a maximum of 02 years based on service requirements and performance.
  • Probation Period: The probation timeline is two years, starting from the date of the grant of the Sub Lieutenant rank.
  • Marital Status Mandate: Only unmarried candidates are eligible to apply. Candidates must remain unmarried during the entire initial training timeline.
  • NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders: A 5% relaxation in cut-off marks for SSB shortlisting will be granted to Naval/Army/Air Wing NCC ‘C’ certificate holders with a minimum ‘B’ Grade (not dated before 01 Jul 2024).
  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Holders: Candidates holding a valid CPL issued by DGCA (India) and born between 02 Jul 2002 and 01 Jul 2008 can apply for the Pilot entry.
  • Merchant Navy Personnel: Candidates with a Certificate of Competency can apply for Executive or Technical entries, subject to age criteria (born between 02 Jul 1997 and 01 Jan 2008).
  • Scanned copy of Matriculation/10th Certificate & 12th Certificate (for DOB & English marks verification)
  • Scanned original Marksheets up to 5th & 7th semesters for regular/integrated BE/B.Tech, or all semesters for other qualifying degrees
  • CGPA to percentage conversion formula sheet for BE/B.Tech degrees
  • Valid NCC ‘C’ Certificate / Commercial Pilot License / Merchant Navy Certificate (if claiming relevant relaxations)
  • Recent passport-size color photograph
  • Printout copy of the final submitted online application form (to be carried to the SSB Center)

  4. Fill in mandatory active communication fields, including your Email Address and Mobile Number.
  5. Upload clear, legible scanned copies of your original degree mark sheets, age proof, and passport photo in JPG/TIFF format.
  6. Indicate your correct preference for different branches/cadres within the form layout.
  7. Verify all the entry values to avoid rejection due to unreadable or incorrect documents.
