Indian Air Force Airmen Intake 02/2027 Application 2026: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has officially released the recruitment notification for Airmen Intake 02/2027. This recruitment drive invites online applications from eligible Indian and Gorkha (subjects of Nepal) male candidates to join the IAF as Airmen in Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) Medical Assistant Trade.

This is a regular entry position with an initial engagement tenure of 20 years, which can be extended up to the age of 57 years based on service conditions. The exact date of birth and marital eligibility criteria differ based on the candidate’s educational qualification at entry:

1. For Class 10+2 (Intermediate) Applicants

  • Marital Status Requirement: Must be unmarried.
  • Date of Birth Block: Must be born between July 1, 2006 and July 1, 2010 (both dates inclusive).

2. For Diploma / B.Pharma / B.Sc Pharmacy Applicants

  • Unmarried Candidates DOB Block: Must be born between July 1, 2003 and July 1, 2008 (both dates inclusive).
  • Married Candidates DOB Block: Must be born between July 1, 2003 and July 1, 2006 (both dates inclusive).
  • Upper Enrolment Age Limit: Must not exceed 24 years on the date of enrolment.
  • For 10+2 Intermediate Applicants: Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English from a recognised education board with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR Passed a 2-year Vocational Course with non-vocational subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
  • For Pharmacy Degree/Diploma Applicants: Passed Intermediate / 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with a minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. In addition, candidates must possess a valid Diploma / B.Pharma / B.Sc in Pharmacy with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and hold a valid registration certificate from a State Pharmacy Council or the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) at the time of enrolment.

Important Marks Rule: Exact marks written on the official board marksheet before decimals will be considered without rounding off. For example, 49.99% will be recorded strictly as 49% and will result in disqualification.

Candidates must conform to the prescribed physical and medical standards to be declared fit for Air Force duties:

  • Height Requirements: Minimum acceptable height is 152 cms for both Medical Assistant and Medical Assistant (Pharmacist) trades.
  • Chest Expansion: Minimum chest circumference must be 77 cms, and the chest wall must show a minimum expansion range of 05 cms.
  • Weight: Must be proportionate to height and age parameters as applicable for the IAF.
  • Hearing: Normal hearing capabilities, meaning the candidate must be able to hear a forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.
  • Dental Standards: Healthy gums, a good set of teeth, and a minimum of 14 dental points. Fixed or removable orthodontic appliances are not permitted.
  • Visual Standards: Visual acuity must be 6/36 in each eye, correctable to 6/6 in each eye. Refractive errors must not exceed ±3.50 D, including astigmatism, and colour vision must be CP-II. Candidates with a history of LASIK or PRK surgeries will be rejected.
  • Permanent Body Tattoos: Not permitted, except on the inner face of the forearms, back of the hand, or for specific custom tribal markings.

1. Job Duties

Selected airmen will undergo nursing and first-aid training. Core duties include the management of medical stores, dispensaries, ward supervision, and other assigned Air Force tasks.

2. Remuneration Package

  • During Training: Candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 14,600/-. Candidates are not allowed to stay with families or get married during training.
  • On Completion of Training: Starting gross monthly emoluments will be paid at the minimum scale of pay, including a Military Service Pay (MSP) of Rs. 26,900/- per month and Dearness Allowance (DA).
  • Allied Allowances: Transport Allowance, Composite Personal Maintenance Allowance (CPMA), Leave Ration Allowance (LRA), Children Education Allowance, and HRA are admissible as per government orders.

3. Welfare Perks

  • Leave Allowances: 60 days of Annual Leave and 30 days of Casual Leave in a calendar year.
  • Insurance Cover: Group Insurance cover of Rs. 62.5 Lakhs at a monthly premium of Rs. 3,200/-. Ration, clothing, medical facilities, accommodation, CSD canteen provisions, and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) are also provided.

The selection procedure incorporates the following three consecutive evaluation blocks:

Phase I: Online Written Examination

The online test consists of objective multiple-choice questions. Except for the English section, questions will be bilingual (English and Hindi).

  • Test Duration & Topics: The examination lasts for 45 minutes and comprises an English paper (based on the 10+2 CBSE syllabus) and a Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA) paper.
  • Marking Pattern:
    • Every correct answer adds +1 Mark.
    • Unattempted questions carry 0 Marks.
    • Wrong answers carry a negative marking penalty of 0.25 marks. (Candidates must clear the minimum qualifying marks in each paper separately to be shortlisted for Phase-II).

Phase-II: Physical Fitness Test (PFT) & Adaptability Screening

Shortlisted candidates will receive a new Phase-II admit card via email. They must report to their assigned Airmen Selection Centre (ASC) with original educational and domicile certificates for verification.

1. 1.6 Km Run (PFT-I)

  • Candidates up to 21 years of age: Must complete within 7 minutes.
  • Candidates above 21 years (Pharmacy holders): Must complete within 7 minutes and 30 seconds.

2. Static Conditioning Exercises (PFT-II)

After a 10-minute break from the run, candidates must perform the following exercises within 1 minute each:

  • 10 Push-ups
  • 10 Sit-ups
  • 20 Squats

3. Adaptability Written Tests

  • Adaptability Test-1: Objective-type written test to check a candidate’s suitability for deployment under varied geographical terrains and weather conditions.
  • Adaptability Test-2: Assesses a candidate’s capability to adjust to the military environment and lifestyle of the IAF.

Phase-III: Medical Examination

Candidates clearing the adaptability test will undergo medical screening by the Air Force Medical Team. Testing incorporates blood counts, urine routine, biochemistry profiles, chest X-rays, and resting ECGs. Unfit candidates can apply for an Appeal Medical Board (AMB) within 3 working days by paying a fee of Rs. 40/-.

  3. Input individual OTP messages sent separately to your email ID and mobile number to verify your details.
  4. Log in to the application portal using your User ID and password.
  5. Complete Step-II fields by filling out your permanent communication addresses, exact educational marks, and selecting five choices of examination cities and 14 choices of ASCs in order of preference.
  6. Slate Photograph Upload Rule: Upload a passport-size recent colour photograph (100 KB to 200 KB) taken within the last month. The photo must show the candidate holding a black slate in front of his chest with his name and date of photography clearly written with white chalk in capital letters.
  7. Upload scanned copies of your signature image (80 KB to 150 KB) and left thumb impression image (50 KB to 100 KB) in JPG/JPEG format. (If below 18 years, your parents’ signature image must also be uploaded).
  8. Keep your webcam ready to capture and upload a real-time live image during registration to verify facial parameters.
  9. Review your form fields thoroughly using the preview button before hitting the final submit button.
  10. Pay the non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 550/- plus 18% GST online using Net Banking, Debit Cards, Credit Cards, or UPI.
  11. Fulfil submission, generate the auto-submitted form layout, and save a PDF copy for your future record files.
