RRB Section Controller Application 2026: The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has released the official Centralized Employment Notification (CEN No. 03/2026) for the direct recruitment of Section Controllers.

Applications are invited from eligible Indian Nationals and other eligible candidates for a total of 119 vacant posts across various Zonal Railways. Interested candidates must submit their application forms online through the official RRB web portals.

  • General / OBC / EWS Category Candidates: ₹500/- (An amount of ₹400/- will be refunded after deducting bank charges upon appearing in the 1st Stage CBT).
  • SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / Female / Transgender / Minorities / EBC / PwBD Candidates: ₹250/- (The full fee of ₹250/- will be refunded after deducting bank charges upon appearing in the 1st Stage CBT).
  • Payment Mode: Online mode only via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Cards, or UPI.
  • Note: Application fee refund will be credited directly to the bank account linked with the candidate’s Aadhaar number.

The Age will be calculated as of 1 July 2026

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates: 3 years relaxation (Born not earlier than 02.07.1990).
  • SC / ST Candidates: 5 years relaxation (Born not earlier than 02.07.1988).
  • Ex-Servicemen (ExSM): 3 years (UR/EWS), 6 years (OBC-NCL), 8 years (SC/ST) after deduction of service length from actual age.
  • PwBD Candidates: 10 years (UR/EWS), 13 years (OBC-NCL), 15 years (SC/ST) relaxation.
  • Group ‘C’ & erstwhile Group ‘D’ Railway Staff (min 3 yrs service): Up to 40 years (UR/EWS), 43 years (OBC-NCL), 45 years (SC/ST).
  • Widowed, Divorced, or Judicially Separated Women (not remarried): Up to 35 years (UR/EWS), 38 years (OBC-NCL), 40 years (SC/ST).

  • Note: Candidates can apply to only ONE RRB. Multiple applications will result in rejection of all forms and debarment.

Candidates must fulfill the minimum qualification requirements on or before the application deadline (14 August 2026).

  • Essential Qualification: Must possess a Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent.
  • Ineligibility Clause: Candidates awaiting final results of their qualifying degree examination are NOT eligible to apply.

Selected candidates must qualify the strict A-2 Medical Fitness Standard conducted by Railway Medical Authorities:

  • General Fitness: Physically fit in all respects.
  • Visual Acuity:
    • Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 without glasses (No fogging test allowed).
    • Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses.
    • Must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision, and Myopic Vision.
  • LASIK Surgery Restriction: Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery or any other surgical procedure to correct refractive error are NOT eligible for this post.
  • Mandatory Medical Certificate: Shortlisted candidates must submit a Vision Certificate issued by an Eye Specialist (Annexure VI / VI-A) at the time of the CBAT exam.
  • 7th CPC Pay Scale Level: Level 6.
  • Initial Basic Pay: ₹35,400/- per month.
  • Allowances & Perks: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) or Company Accommodation, Transport Allowance (TA), Leave Travel Concession, Medical Benefits, and Pension Benefits as per Railway rules.

Selection will be made strictly on merit through the following sequential stages:

  1. Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Screening test consisting of 100 Objective Questions.
  2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Candidates equal to 8 times the vacancies will be called for CBAT based on CBT merit. Must score a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each test battery to qualify.
  3. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisting done in 1:1 ratio based on combined merit (70% weightage to CBT + 30% weightage to CBAT).
  4. Medical Examination (ME): Final appointment is subject to passing the A-2 Medical Test.

  • Exam Duration: 120 Minutes (2 Hours).
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Minimum Qualifying Percentage: UR – 40%, EWS – 40%, OBC (NCL) – 30%, SC – 30%, ST – 25%.

  • Authenticate your identity via Aadhaar or DigiLocker for smooth verification.
  • Fill in personal attributes, educational qualifications, and zone preferences carefully.
  • Capture a Live Photograph using your webcam/mobile camera against a dark/non-white background without glasses, caps, or masks.
  • Upload your scanned signature in running handwriting using black ink (30 KB to 49 KB in JPG/JPEG format).
  • SC/ST candidates requesting free train travel pass must upload their Caste Certificate in PDF format (under 400 KB).
  • Pay the application fee online before the closing date (16 August 2026).
  • Download and print the completed application form for future reference.
