Indian Air Force AFCAT 02/2026 Age Limit

Age Limits As of 1 July 2027

For Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry:

  • Minimum Age: 20 Years
  • Maximum Age: 24 Years
  • The candidate should be unmarried and born between 02 July 2003 and 01 July 2007 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years, i.e., born between 02 July 2001 and 01 July 2007 (both dates inclusive).

For Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch:

  • Minimum Age: 20 Years 
  • Maximum Age: 26 Years
  • Unmarried candidates should be born between 02 July 2001 and 01 July 2007 (both dates inclusive).

Who Should Apply for the Indian Air Force AFCAT 02/2026?

Flying Branch:
  • Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Mathematics and Physics at the 10+2 level and
  • Graduation with a minimum of a three-year degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR
  • BE/B Tech degree (Four-year course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR
  • Candidates who have cleared the Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
Ground Duty (Technical) Branch

Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}: Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level, MSc Electronics with a minimum of 50% marks with BSc in Physics with a minimum of 60% OR a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University OR cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}: Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from recognized University OR cleared Sections A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

GATE Score Entry (Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)} and Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}

The candidates must have completed a Bachelor of Engineering(BE)/ Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree from 133 disciplines mentioned and qualified in any of the 10 disciplines of the GATE exam, as given, are eligible for GATE Score Entry. Candidates can register with a GATE score obtained within three years preceding the date of commencement of the course.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches

Weapon Systems (WS) Branch: Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at the 10+2 level and

  • Graduation with a minimum three-year degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR
  • BE/B Tech degree (Four-year course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Administration & Logistics: Passed 10+2 and Graduate Degree (Minimum three-year degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent, or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Accounts Branch: Passed 10+2 and graduated in any of the following streams with 60 % marks or equivalent from a recognized university:-

  • B. Com Degree (Minimum three-year course).
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Management Studies (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Business Studies (with specialization in Finance)
  • Qualified CA/CMA/CS/CFA.
  • B.Sc. with specialization in Finance.

Education: Passed 10+2 and Post-Graduation with 50% marks in any discipline, including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry), and with 60% marks in Graduation in any discipline.

Meteorology: Passed 10+2 and B Sc in Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent, or a four-year Graduation in an Engineering/Technology discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
