Delhi University Faculty Educational Qualification & Experience Criteria

Qualifications must be possessed as on the closing date (20 August 2026):

1. Associate Professor (Academic Pay Level 13A):

• Degree: Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline (Mandatory).
• Master’s Marks: Master’s Degree with at least 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD).
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of teaching and/or research experience in an academic/research position equivalent to Assistant Professor.
• Publications & Score: Minimum 7 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-CARE / SCOPUS indexed journals + Minimum Academic/Research Score of 75.

2. Professor (Academic Pay Level 14):

• Degree: Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline (Mandatory).
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of teaching experience as Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor OR equivalent research experience with evidence of successfully guided doctoral candidates.
• Publications & Score: Minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-CARE / SCOPUS-indexed journals + Minimum Academic/Research Score of 120.
• Alternative Route: An outstanding professional with a Ph.D. and 10 years of experience in a relevant industry/institution who has made significant knowledge contributions.

Delhi University Faculty Pay Scale and Salary Structure

Selected faculty members will be placed in the 7th Central Pay Commission Academic Pay Matrix:

Allowances: Admissible UGC allowances, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance as per Govt. of India / DU rules.

Delhi University Faculty Selection Process Details

Selection will be carried out through shortlisting based on research scores, followed by presentation assessment and personal interview:

1. Screening & Shortlisting: Applications are evaluated based on the UGC Academic/Research Score methodology (Minimum 75 for Associate Professor and 120 for Professor). Shortlisted candidates are invited in order of rank (Minimum 30 candidates for the 1st vacancy and 10 for each additional vacancy).
2. Presentation Assessment: Shortlisted candidates are evaluated through presentations (graded A, B, C, or D).
3. Personal Interview: Final selection is made purely on merit by the duly constituted Selection Committee. No written exam is conducted.
