UPSC Principal & Vice Principal Application 2026: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published a special recruitment advertisement (Special Advertisement No. 51/2026) for direct selection to the posts of Principal and Vice Principal in the Education Department, Government of NCT of Delhi.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates possessing a Master’s Degree, B.Ed., and required teaching/administrative experience for a total of 828 vacant posts (124 Principal posts and 704 Vice Principal posts). OBC Category Restriction Notice: Reservation under OBC Category will be provided ONLY to those candidates who submit an OBC Certificate issued by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi. Candidates with OBC Certificates from other States/UTs will be treated as General/Unreserved candidates against Unreserved vacancies.

Candidates must fulfill all essential qualifications and experience requirements on or before the application closing date (14 August 2026):

  • Essential Educational:
    1. Master’s Degree from a recognized University/Institute.
    2. Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized University/Institute.
  • Essential Experience: Minimum 10 Years’ teaching experience (as Vice Principal / Post Graduate Teacher / Trained Graduate Teacher) in a recognized High School / Higher Secondary School / Senior Secondary School / Intermediate College.
  • Desirable: Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) OR Experience as Administrative Charge of a recognized High School / Higher Secondary School / Intermediate College.
  • Essential Educational:
    1. Master’s Degree from a recognized University/Institute.
    2. Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized University.
  • Essential Experience: Minimum 2 Years’ experience as Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) OR 3 Years’ experience as Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in a recognized school.

Selected candidates will be appointed on regular Central Government Pay Levels under the 7th CPC:

Selection for these posts will be made via a two-tier evaluation process:

  1. Pen & Paper Combined Recruitment Test (CRT): Offline written test to shortlist candidates for the interview round (to be held on 01.11.2026).
  2. Interview (Personality Test): Carrying 100 Marks.
  3. Weightage Ratio: Final selection merit list will be prepared by combining CRT marks and Interview marks in the ratio of 75:25.
  • General / EWS: 50 Marks
  • OBC: 45 Marks
  • SC / ST / PwBD: 40 Marks

The Combined Recruitment Test (CRT) for both Principal and Vice Principal will be held offline on 01 November 2026 across 15 exam centers in India:

  1. Visit the official UPSC Online Recruitment Application portal at https://upsconline.nic.in/ora/.
  2. Complete Universal Registration Number (URN) registration if applying for the first time. (Using Aadhaar Card is recommended for easy verification).
  3. Fill out the Common Application Form (CAF) and upload your live photo capture along with a scanned photograph and signature (signed 3 times in black ink).
  4. Select Special Advertisement No. 51/2026 and choose the post (Principal or Vice Principal).
  5. Upload required PDF supporting documents (10th Marksheet, Master’s Degree, B.Ed. Certificate, Teaching Experience Certificates, Delhi OBC/Caste Certificate).
  6. Pay the application fee (₹25/- for General/OBC/EWS Male candidates) online.
  7. Submit the form on or before 14 August 2026 (6:00 PM) and print out a copy of the submitted application form for document verification.
