UPSC Principal & Vice Principal Application 2026: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published a special recruitment advertisement (Special Advertisement No. 51/2026) for direct selection to the posts of Principal and Vice Principal in the Education Department, Government of NCT of Delhi.

UPSC Principal & Vice Principal Educational Qualification & Experience Criteria
Candidates must fulfill all essential qualifications and experience requirements on or before the application closing date (14 August 2026):
1. Principal Posts (Post Code Item 1)
- Essential Educational:
- Master’s Degree from a recognized University/Institute.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized University/Institute.
- Essential Experience: Minimum 10 Years’ teaching experience (as Vice Principal / Post Graduate Teacher / Trained Graduate Teacher) in a recognized High School / Higher Secondary School / Senior Secondary School / Intermediate College.
- Desirable: Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) OR Experience as Administrative Charge of a recognized High School / Higher Secondary School / Intermediate College.
2. Vice Principal Posts (Post Code Item 2)
- Essential Educational:
- Master’s Degree from a recognized University/Institute.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from a recognized University.
- Essential Experience: Minimum 2 Years’ experience as Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) OR 3 Years’ experience as Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in a recognized school.
UPSC Principal & Vice Principal Pay Scale and Salary Structure
Selected candidates will be appointed on regular Central Government Pay Levels under the 7th CPC:

UPSC Principal & Vice Principal Selection Process Details
Selection for these posts will be made via a two-tier evaluation process:
- Pen & Paper Combined Recruitment Test (CRT): Offline written test to shortlist candidates for the interview round (to be held on 01.11.2026).
- Interview (Personality Test): Carrying 100 Marks.
- Weightage Ratio: Final selection merit list will be prepared by combining CRT marks and Interview marks in the ratio of 75:25.
Category-wise Minimum Qualifying Marks in Interview (Out of 100):
- General / EWS: 50 Marks
- OBC: 45 Marks
- SC / ST / PwBD: 40 Marks
