OPSC Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Application 2026: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has published an official recruitment advertisement (Advt. No. 04 of 2026-27) for the recruitment of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS) / Additional VAS in Group-A (Junior Branch-II).

The Age will be calculated as of 1 January 2026

  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD) belonging to SEBC/SC/ST Categories: 10 years relaxation over and above 47 years (Up to 57 Years).
  • Note: The age calculation is based strictly on the Date of Birth mentioned in the High School Certificate (10th) or equivalent document.

Note: PwD and Sports Persons candidates will be adjusted against the respective social categories (SEBC/SC/ST) to which they belong. If eligible female candidates are unavailable, the unfilled posts will be filled by eligible male candidates of the same category.

Candidates must fulfill all required academic and registration conditions on or before the online application submission date:

  • Degree Requirement: Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) or its equivalent degree from a recognized University/College in India or abroad.
  • Foreign Degree Conversion: Candidates with degrees from foreign universities must possess a conversion certificate recognized by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI).
  • Veterinary Council Registration: Must possess a valid Registration Certificate under the Odisha Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1970 (Section 21) on or before the closing date.
  • Language Proficiency: Must be able to speak, read, and write Odia, and must have passed at least Middle English (M.E.) School or Class VII with Odia as a language subject.
  • Pay Matrix: Level 12, Cell-1 of Pay Matrix under Rule-3 of ORSP Rules, 2017.
  • Initial Basic Pay: ₹56,100/- per month.
  • Allowances: Admissible usual Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time.
  • Pension: Governed by the National Pension System (NPS) / Defined Contributory Pension Scheme.

Selection will be made based on performance in a competitive Written Examination:

  1. Written Examination: Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) objective-type test carrying a total of 800 Marks.
  2. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates (twice the number of vacancies) based on written test merit will be called for document verification.

  • Click on “Apply Online” and complete the user registration process.
  • Upon successful registration, a unique Permanent Public Service Account Number (PPSAN) will be generated.
  • Fill in all personal details, category data, B.V.Sc. qualification marks, and Odisha Veterinary Council Registration credentials carefully.
  • Upload clear scanned copies of your recent passport-size photograph, full signature, and Left-Hand Thumb Impression (LTI).
  • Pay the application fee of ₹700/- online (if applicable) and enter your active bank details for the exam fee refund process.
  • Submit the application form before the closing date (24 August 2026, 05:00 PM).
  • Print out the submitted online application form (PPSAN printout) and keep it safe along with self-attested photocopies of all certificates for Document Verification.
