Cochin Shipyard Technical Assistant, Ship Draftsman Eligibility Criteria
For Senior Ship Draftsman
Educational Qualification: Three-year Diploma in Related Trade from a State Board of Technical Education, securing a minimum of 60% of marks.
Experience
- Essential: Minimum two years post-qualification experience/ training as a Ship Draftsman or Draftsman in a Shipyard or Engineering Company or Ship Design Company or Establishment or Government Company or Establishment or Semi-Government Company or Establishment.
- Desirable: Experience in 3D modeling software like Tribon, CADMATIC, / Design experience in CAD software.
Junior Technical Assistant (Mechanical)
Educational Qualification: Three-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education, securing a minimum of 60% of marks.
Experience
- Essential: Minimum four years post-qualification experience relating to works involving installation & commissioning of mechanical systems in a Shipyard, Engineering Company, Government Company, Establishment, or Semi-Government Company or Establishment
- Desirable: Experience in installation & Commissioning of HVAC, Fire Fighting System, Cranes, Air Compressors, Pumps, Piping systems, etc.
Junior Technical Assistant (Electrical)
Educational Qualification: Three-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering, from a State Board of Technical Education, securing a minimum of 60% of marks.
Experience
- Essential: Minimum four years post qualification experience relating to works involving Installation & commissioning of electrical systems in a Shipyard or Engineering Company or Government Company or Establishment or Semi-Government Company, or Establishment
- Desirable: (a) Experience in PLC/SCADA/DCS Systems manufacturing/ testing and commissioning, HT/LT switchgear panels manufacturing/ testing and commissioning, power management systems, other power electronic devices, Energy management, Integrated computerized instrumentation and control systems. (b)Proficiency in Computer Applications like AutoCAD, SAP, MS Office, etc.
Junior Technical Assistant (Electronics)
Educational Qualification: Three-year Diploma in Electronics Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, from a State Board of Technical Education, securing a minimum of 60% of marks.
Experience
- Essential: Minimum four years post-qualification experience relating to works involving Installation & commissioning of control systems & electronic systems in a Shipyard or Engineering Company or Government Company or Establishment, or semi-government company or Establishment.
- Desirable: (a) Experience in Electronics systems manufacturing, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning of systems, including PCB level, Microprocessor/SOC-based embedded systems manufacturing troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning of systems, including PCB level, Wireless communication systems & integrated navigation systems-testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning. (b) Proficiency in Computer Applications like AutoCAD, SAP, M S Office etc.
Junior Technical Assistant (Civil)
Educational Qualification: Three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education, securing a minimum of 60% of marks.
Experience: Minimum four years post-qualification experience in work relating to civil, construction, and maintenance of Infrastructure projects. Preparation of Reports, Stores and Material Accounting, Updating ERP System, Man-hour Booking, Record and Report Generation, Invoice preparation in a Shipyard/ Engineering Company, and must be computer-savvy.
Junior Technical Assistant (Instrumentation)
Educational Qualification: Three-year Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education, securing a minimum of 60% of marks.
Experience: Minimum four years post-qualification experience relating to work in Instrumentation in a Shipyard/ Engineering Company, and must be computer-savvy.
Laboratory Assistant (Mechanical)
Educational Qualification:
- Essential: Three-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering, from a State Board of Technical Education, securing a minimum of 60% of marks.
- Desirable: Radiographer Certificate – Radiography Testing Level-1 issued by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. OR PCN/ISNT/ASNT Level II qualification in four NDT methods (DPT, MPT, UT & RT).
Experience
- Essential: Minimum four years post-qualification experience in a) Testing Laboratory OR b) Quality Control activities in a Shipyard or Engineering Company or Government/Semi-Government Company/Establishment.
- Desirable: a) Experience in Mechanical Testing/Metallography in any Lab, preferably NABL accredited. OR Radiography/Ultrasonic Testing in any NDT Inspection firm. b) Proficiency in Computer Applications like MS Office, SAP, etc.
Laboratory Assistant (Chemical)
Educational Qualification: Graduate (B.Sc) in Chemistry from a recognized University, securing a minimum of 60% of marks.
Experience
- Essential: Minimum four years post-qualification experience in a Metal/Water/Oil/Fuel/Paint testing Lab, preferably a NABL Accredited Lab.
- Desirable: a) Experience in handling Instruments like Optical Emission Spectrometer, Mass Spectrometer, or Gas Chromatograph. b) Proficiency in Computer Applications like MS Office, SAP, etc.
Storekeeper
Educational Qualification: (a) Graduate with a Post Graduate Diploma in Materials Management. OR (b) Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical).

- For the posts of Senior Ship Draftsman: The method of selection shall include Phase I- Objective-type online test and Phase II – Practical Test
- For the posts of Junior Technical Assistant, Laboratory Assistant (Mechanical & Chemical), Store Keeper & Assistant: The method of selection for the posts shall be through Objective Type Online test and Descriptive Type Online Test, which shall be conducted out of 100 marks and marks awarded accordingly.
