• Unreserved (UR) / EWS (Male): Maximum 37 Years.
• Backward Class (BC) / Extremely Backward Class (EBC) (Male & Female): Maximum 40 Years.
• Unreserved (UR) / EWS (Female): Maximum 40 Years.
• SC / ST (Male & Female): Maximum 42 Years.

• Horizontal Reservations:
  • Women Candidates (Bihar Domicile): 35% Horizontal Reservation across categories.

Bihar SHSB Specialist Doctors Educational Qualification Criteria

Degree / Diploma qualifications must be completed on or before 01 August 2026 and registered with Bihar Council of Medical Registration (BCMR), Patna, MCI, or NMC before joining:

• Obstetrician & Gynaecologist: MD / MS / DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology OR Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (DGO) from a recognized University/Institute.
• Paediatrician: MD / DNB in Paediatrics OR Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from a recognized University/Institute.
• Anaesthetist: MD / DNB in Anaesthesia OR Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) from a recognized University/Institute.
• MD Medicine / Physician: MD in General Medicine / DNB in General Medicine from a recognized University/Institute.
• General Surgeon: MS in General Surgery / DNB in General Surgery from a recognized University/Institute.
• Orthopaedic Surgeon: MBBS with Post Graduate Degree (MS-Ortho / MD-Ortho / DNB in Orthopaedics) OR Post Graduate Diploma (D.Ortho) from a recognized University/Institute.
• Registration Mandatory: Candidates must be registered with BCMR Patna or NMC/MCI. If not registered at the time of application, an affidavit must be submitted at DV stating registration will be done before joining.

Bihar SHSB Specialist Doctors Pay Scale and Salary Structure

Selected specialist doctors will receive consolidated monthly remuneration as per qualification and place of posting:

• MD / MS / DNB Candidates (Posted at District Headquarters): ₹1,00,000/- per month
• MD / MS / DNB Candidates (Posted outside District Headquarters): ₹1,20,000/- per month
• PG Diploma Candidates (Irrespective of Place of Posting): ₹90,000/- per month

Bihar SHSB Specialist Doctors Selection Process Details

Selection will be made purely based on academic merit evaluated out of 100 Marks (No Written Exam / Interview):

• MBBS Examination Score Weightage (60 Marks Max): Percentage scored in MBBS multiplied by 0.60 factor (e.g., 50% in MBBS = 50 × 0.60 = 30 Marks).
• Post Graduate Qualification Weightage (40 Marks / 30 Marks Flat):
  • Flat 40 Marks assigned for MD / MS / DNB Degree.
  • Flat 30 Marks assigned for PG Diploma.
• Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGE): Marks scored in Foreign Medical Graduate Examination screening test multiplied by 0.60 factor.
• Tie-Resolution: Higher age given priority; if age is equal, higher educational qualification given priority; if tie persists, English alphabetical order of name as per 10th certificate.
• Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will be invited for physical document verification/counselling in September 2026.

2. Navigate to “Human Resource” >> “Advertisement” and click on the online application link for Advt. No. 03/2026.
3. Complete applicant registration and fill in personal details, educational qualifications, medical registration number, and preferred districts. (Candidates can choose up to 3 preferred districts for posting).
4. Upload a recent passport-size photograph (white background, taken within 3 months) and scanned signature.
5. Upload supporting PDF documents including 10th certificate for DOB, MBBS degree & marksheets, PG degree/diploma marksheets, BCMR/NMC registration proof, domicile certificate, and category/creamy-layer-free certificate.
