KSLSA Section Officer Educational Qualification Criteria
Candidates must fulfill the minimum qualification requirement as on the last date of application submission (19 August 2026):
- Essential Qualification: Must have passed Graduation in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized University in India.
- Kannada Language Requirement: Candidates who have not studied Kannada as a 1st/2nd language in SSLC or higher levels must pass the Departmental Kannada Language Examination conducted by KPSC before completing their 2-year probation period.
KSLSA Section Officer Pay Scale and Salary Structure
Selected candidates will be appointed on regular Karnataka State Government pay scales:
- Pay Scale Range: ₹69,250 – 1650 – 74200 – 1900 – 85600 – 2300 – 99400 – 2700 – 115600 – 3100 – 134,200/- per month.
- Probation Period: 2 years from the date of joining.
- Posting Location: Offices of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority or any District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Karnataka.
KSLSA Section Officer Selection Process Details
Selection will be made based on a Competitive Written Examination followed by an Interview:
- Competitive Written Examination (Offline OMR-Based): Comprises Paper-I (300 Marks) and Paper-II (300 Marks) conducted at Bengaluru Examination Centre only.
- Oral Interview (Viva-Voce): Successful written test candidates in a 1:5 ratio will be called for interview carrying 25 Marks (Minimum 13 marks needed to pass).

Negative Valuation Rules:
- Each question carries 4 options. Deduction of 1/4th (0.75 marks) will be made for every incorrect answer.
- Fifth Option Circle: A 5th circle is provided on the OMR sheet for unanswered questions. Candidates must shade the 5th circle for unattempted questions; leaving all circles unshaded will deduct 0.75 marks. 5 extra minutes are given after the bell to complete 5th-circle shading.
