Who Should Apply for Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JHTET)?
A. Level-I-For becoming a Teacher for Classes I-V: Primary Teacher (PRT)
- Candidates should have passed +2 or Higher Secondary with a minimum of 50% marks (or its equivalent), and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), [for those who enrolled in a training session commencing on or after 09.12.2007]. OR
- Candidates should have passed +2 (or Higher Secondary) with a minimum of 45% marks (or its equivalent), and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), obtained in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002. [Applicable to those who had already enrolled in training sessions commenced before 09.12.2007.] OR
- Candidates should have passed +2 or Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks, and a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). OR
- Candidates should have passed +2 or Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks, and a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). OR
- Candidates should have a graduation and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
B. Level-2-For becoming a Teacher for Classes VI-VIII: Upper Primary Teacher
- Candidates should have a graduation (or its equivalent) and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education. OR
- Candidates should have A Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks; or A Master’s degree along with a Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) [applicable to those who enrolled in a Bachelor’s or equivalent training course on or after July 29, 2011]. OR
- Candidates should have A Bachelor’s Degree (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 45% marks; AND A Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.) or an equivalent training course, which has been obtained in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. [Applicable to those who were enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training course before 29.07.2011.] OR
- Candidates should have Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks, and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). OR
- Candidates should have Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks, and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. (BA, B.Sc., B.Ed.) or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. OR
- Candidates should have a graduation (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks, and a B.Ed. (Special Education) OR
- Candidates should have a Postgraduate degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade, and a 3-year Integrated B.Ed. – M.Ed.
- For Mathematics and Science Teachers: Candidates must possess a minimum qualification of a 3-year Bachelor’s degree in one of the following subjects—Science, Engineering, Technology, Agriculture, or Mathematics—as notified by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in its notification regarding the ‘Specification of Degrees’ issued in March 2014 or thereafter; furthermore, they must have passed the 10+2 (or Higher Secondary) examination with at least two subjects chosen from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology.
- For Social Science Teachers: Candidates must possess a minimum three-year Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce, or Management, as per the notification issued by the University Grants Commission regarding the ‘Specification of Degrees’ in March 2014 and any subsequent notifications.
- Language Teacher: Candidates must have passed a minimum three-year Bachelor’s degree or a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in any one of the languages ​​listed in Schedule 1 of the Rules, or in Hindi, English, Sanskrit, or Urdu. Any amendments made in this regard in the future shall automatically become an integral part of these Rules.
C. Primary School (for Classes 1 to 5): Specially Trained Assistant Teachers
- Candidates should have passed XII and 2 years of D.Ed. Special Education in any of the categories of disability. OR
- Candidates should have passed XII and have a 1-year Diploma in Special Education (DSE) in any of the categories of disability. OR
- Candidates should have a Diploma in Community-Based Rehabilitation (DCBR) with 6 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs. OR
- Candidates should have a Post Graduate Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (PGDCBR) with 6 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs. OR
- Diploma in Multi-Rehabilitation Worker (MRW) with 6 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs. OR
- Junior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf. OR
- Primary level Teacher Training course in Visual Impairment. OR
- Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation-Mental Retardation (DVRMR)/Diploma in Vocational Training and Employment-Mental Retardation (DVTE-MR) with 6 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs. OR
- Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech (DHLS) with 6 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs.
Upper Primary School (for Classes 6 to 8): Specially Trained Assistant Teachers
- Candidates should have graduated with a B.Ed. (Special Education) from an RCI-approved Institute and possess a valid RCI CRR No. OR
- B.Ed. (General) With a one-year Diploma in Special Education / B.Ed (General) with two years Diploma in Special Education with a recognized qualification (Certificate/Diploma) from a RCI-approved Institution equivalent to B.Ed. in Special Education, and possess a valid RCI CRR No. OR
- B.Ed (General) with Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Special Education (PGPD)/ B.Ed (Special Education) with Post Graduate Professional Certificate in Special Education (PGPC) / (PG Diploma in Special Education (Mental Retardation) / PG Diploma in Special Education (Muliple Disability: Physical & Neurological) / PG Diploma in Special Education (Locomotor Impairment and Cerebral Palsy) / Secondary Level Teacher Training Course in Visual Impairment / Senior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf / BA B.Ed in Visual Impairment.

Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JHTET) Exam Pattern

- Level I exam will be conducted for Primary Schools (Classes 1 to 5).
- Level II exam will be conducted for Upper Primary Schools (Class 6 to 8).
- Candidates can appear in both exams if they are eligible.
- Each written exam has 150 MCQs of 150 marks.
- The exam duration is 150 minutes.
- The minimum qualification marks is 60% for General & EWS, 55% for OBC, and 52% for SC, ST, and PH candidates.
