Cochin Shipyard Workmen (ITI) Eligibility Criteria
1. For Welder Cum Fitter (Welder/ Welder (Gas & Electric))
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Welder / Welder (Gas & Electric).
Experience
Minimum five years post-qualification experience in the areas of Gas cutting and welding (gas and electric, manual, automatic, MIG/ semi-automatic special welding), gouging, gas and electric brazing, flame heating, chipping and grinding, staging and handling in a
- Shipyard or
- Engineering Company or
- Government Company or Establishment or
- Semi-Government Company or Establishment.
2. For Welder Cum Fitter (Sheet Metal Worker)
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Sheet Metal Worker.
Experience
Minimum five years post-qualification experience in the areas of Structural work using machines like bending machine, shearing machine, hydraulic presses, etc., and or in repair and maintenance of heavy-duty cranes, hydraulic presses, compressors, pneumatic tools in a
- Shipyard or
- Engineering Company or
- Government Company or Establishment or
- Semi-Government Company or Establishment.
3. For Welder Cum Fitter (Fitter)
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Fitter.
Experience
Minimum five years post-qualification experience in a Shipyard / Engineering Company/ Government Company or Establishment / Semi-Government Company or Establishment, in the following areas:-
- Structural work using machines like bending machines, shearing machines, hydraulic presses, etc., and or in repair and maintenance of heavy-duty cranes, hydraulic presses, compressors, pneumatic tools, etc. OR
- Erection, repair, and maintenance of pumps, generators, compressors, marine engines, thermal power station auxiliaries, etc.
4. For Welder Cum Fitter (Plumber)
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Plumber/ Pipe Fitter.
Experience
Minimum five years post qualification experience as a Pipe Fitter, including pipe shop experience such as cutting, bending, fabrication, welding, pressure testing, surface treatment, etc., in a
- Shipyard or
- Engineering Company or
- Government Company or Establishment or
- Semi-Government Company or Establishment.
5. For Welder Cum Fitter (Mechanic Motor Vehicle)
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Mechanic Motor Vehicle.
Experience: Minimum five years post-qualification experience in the areas of erection, repair, and maintenance of pumps, generators, compressors, marine engines, thermal power station auxiliaries, etc., in a
- Shipyard or
- Engineering Company or
- Government Company or Establishment or
- Semi-Government Company or Establishment.
6. For Welder Cum Fitter (Mechanic Diesel)
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Mechanic Diesel.
Experience: Minimum five years post-qualification experience in the areas of erection, repair, and maintenance of pumps, generators, compressors, marine engines, thermal power station auxiliaries, etc., in a

7. For Machinist
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Machinist.
Experience: Minimum five years post-qualification experience as a Machinist in operating Machine Tools like Lathes, Milling Machine, Turning Machine, etc. in a Shipyard or Engineering Company.
8. For Fitter (Electrical)
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Electrician.
Experience
Minimum five years post-qualification experience as a Mechanic or Electrician looking after the operation of Substation, installation of HT/LT switchgears, transformers, maintenance of electrical equipment in a
- Ship Building Company or
- Ship Repair company or
- Engineering Company or
- Electricity generation/transmission/ Distribution company
9. For Fitter (Electronics)
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Electronic Mechanic.
Experience
Minimum five years post-qualification experience in the repair and maintenance of electronic control circuits of industrial equipment in a
- Shipyard or
- Engineering Company or
- Manufacturing Company of electronic goods or
- Government Company or Establishment or
- Semi-Government Company or Establishment.
10. For Crane Operator (Electrical)
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Electrician/ Electronic Mechanic/ Instrument Mechanic
Experience: Certificate, and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Electrician/ Electronic Mechanic/ Instrument Mechanic. Minimum five years post qualification experience in operating EOT cranes in a Shipbuilding/ Ship repair yard or Engineering Company
11. For Instrument Mechanic
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Instrument Mechanic.
Experience: Minimum five years post-qualification experience in the repair and maintenance of Instrument Gauges, Pneumatic, Electric, and Hydraulic controlling systems of various equipment, gas cutting machines, pressure regulators, heating equipment, etc., in a Shipyard or Engineering Company.
12. For Shipwright Wood
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate), and All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Shipwright Wood (Carpenter).
Experience: Minimum five years post-qualification experience as a Carpenter in a
- Shipyard or
- Engineering Company or
- Government Company or Establishment or
- Semi-Government Company or Establishment.
10. For Painter
Educational Qualification: Pass in SSLC, ITI (National Trade Certificate) with All India National Trade Test (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in the trade of Painter (Marine/General)/Fitter/Sheet Metal Worker.
Experience: Minimum five years post-qualification experience as a Painter (Marine) in a Shipbuilding/ Ship repair yard or Engineering Company.
